Pupillary response changes in Graves' disease

چکیده
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate pupillary contraction and dilatation response changes in Graves' disease.
Materials Methods: patient group consisted 55 euthyroid Graves patients the control healthy individuals. Data from right eyes all participants were used. Static (scotopic, mesopic, photopic) dynamic pupillometry measurements performed with automatic pupillometry. mean pupil speed calculated according measurements. measurements, data compared between groups.
Results: There no statistically significant difference two groups static values speed. scotopic diameter 5.41±0.776 mm Graves’ 5.55±0.747 group. mesopic 4.39±0.721 4.17±0.640 photopic 3.45 ±0,549 3.29±0.679 0th second 3, 54±0.541 3.48±0.708 at 18th 0.116±0.031 mm/sec 0.128±0.040 Age found be an independent factor on parameters.
Conclusion: parameters hormone levels not affected. While responses appeared affected case euthyroidism, more studies including hypothyroidism hyperthyroidism are needed.

Retrospective study of clinical course and treatment response in Graves’ disease [Persian]
In this report, the clinical course and treatment response of 210 patients with Grawes’ disease referred to the research institute for nuclear medicine were studied. The disease was more common in 3rd and 4th decades and more frequent in women (F/M=4). Treatment response with antithyroid drugs was about 50%, whereas 80% of the patients treated by I-131 showed positive response. There was ...
متن کاملSpatial attention increases the pupillary response to light changes.
We measured pupil size in adult human subjects while we manipulated both the luminance of the visual scene and the location of attention. We found that, with central fixation maintained, pupillary constrictions and dilations evoked by peripheral luminance increments and decrements are larger when spatial attention is covertly (i.e., with no eye movements) directed to the stimulus region versus ...
متن کاملPupillary Response Based Cognitive Workload Measurement under Luminance Changes
Pupillary response has been widely accepted as a physiological index of cognitive workload. It can be reliably measured with remote eye trackers in a non-intrusive way. However, pupillometric measurement might fail to assess cognitive workload due to the variation of luminance conditions. To overcome this problem, we study the characteristics of pupillary responses at different stages of cognit...
متن کاملAnticardiolipin Antibodies and Immunoglobulin M and A in Graves’ Disease
Background: Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disease, characterized by the presence of antibodies directed to TSH receptor or nearby regions as well as antibodies to double strands DNA (dsDNA) anticardiolipin and nuclear antibodies. This study evaluated anticardiolipin and rheumatoid factor, such as IgA and IgM antibodies in patients with Graves’ disease. Patients and methods: Anticardiolipin a...
متن کاملTime's arrow and pupillary response.
The psychological arrow of time refers to our experience of the forward temporal progression of all natural processes. To investigate whether and how time's arrow is mentally coded in individual everyday events, a relatedness judgment task was used. The items each consisted of a verb (probe) and an adjective or participle (target). The temporal orientation between probe and target was varied ei...
